Wordy girl Wednesday (5) – Quotes to remind you to pursue your dreams.

Thinking about these quotes this morning.  I have been letting myself get derailed from my dreams and goals and today as I was doing my daily reading I was reminded that the life I get, the life I live, is a direct result of my choices.  I may not be responsible for every single thing in my life, but I am the one in charge of who I spend time with, what I spend my time doing and how I behave, feel, react, etc.

And I was reminded that I am not making the choices that are taking me in the direction I desire to go.  Oh, I have the right partner to take this life journey with and I love many parts of my life but I also have some major personal goals that I have not been staying committed to very well.

So these quotes are here to remind myself and to offer thought and encouragement to anyone that may read them as well.  If you find yourself in a great place but wanting more and better, than I hope you find a way to get back on track.  That you feel that you can keep moving forward toward those goals and dreams of what you want this life to be.  Only you can make your best life!

LOVE Love love this!  Have I been doing this?!   If so I must stop!  Keep that dream elevated!

This! This is what I am lacking.  Discipline!

This too!  Time to get out of my own way and work at it!

Do not limit your dreams!  Set them high and then work hard to reach them.  Will you join me in a reset?  Let’s help encourage one another.  Lift each other up.  May you feel energized today to restart if you have stalled.  I am.

Are you ready? How do you transition?

Waking up and heading back to work after vacation; which in my case means at least ten days off from work and most responsibilities is feeling a bit brutal this morning.  Getting back into routine is often tough for many of us.  Vacations are necessary and I advise to take them as often as you can which I try to do numerous times throughout the year but coming back to reality is rough and I might already be tired at 8am!

So in trying to prepare for getting back to work and into the swing of things, I was thinking about how I can help myself transition from sleeping in, no tasks required, lounging when I want, reading when I wish, eating and drinking too much to an on task, lots to do, more responsibility than I often want at a place where they pay me mode.

This got me thinking; are we ready to get started each day?  Are we ready to hit the ground running when we hear our alarms?  Are we ready to be on for our families and employers? Or if you run your own company, are you ready for the long to do list you may have?

I am not all that ready to head back to work, but I am looking forward to a routine.  I like to plan and work towards goals so I thought that would be the best way to get myself ready for this morning.   I made a list of goals I want to achieve here in the near future.  These were simple and probably too easy to accomplish but is a start when what I am really wanting to do is to sleep in and still be lounging in the water up at the lake house.

Here are some of the things I have been doing to “get ready”:
I mapped out on Sunday what I may need to do when I get to work this morning.
I recommitted to my morning tasks (think I have mentioned SAVERS before (thank you Hal Elrod)).  This by far has been the best method I have ever followed; check out his book: The Miracle Morning
I started a new workout program.
I prepared what I need for the first day back to work and made a plan for dinner with the kids ahead of time.
By doing these things I am feeling a bit more prepared for a new work week and tackling getting back into work mode.

What do you to do get ready for things you may have to do?  Do you have tips and tricks to help you when you are tired or not really excited for whatever you may be facing?  How do to get back into the groove of work and routine; especially after a long vacation? Do you fight to find motivation to keep at it?  Or are you recharged and ready to go already?  If so, how do you keep that motivation?  I would love to hear your ideas too. Emails are always welcome.

I hope you have a great Monday!  If you are on vacation; enjoy every moment!

Sunday reflections (25)

Love the long summer days. With the sun hiding here in the northwest the past couple days, today was a great day for being creative. Pulled out the sewing machine to teach a new quilter. Had a busy day of cutting and piecing together the top of a quilt. Fun times. Will post pics when they are complete.

Sometimes “lazy” Sundays are not so lazy after all. Finding ways to learn or create is so relaxing for me. Think I’ll finish my day with reading as well.

What do you do to enjoy your days off? Do you have hobbies or crafts that can keep you occupied for hours? Do you play sports or games that just melt time away? I hope you find time to do those things. These are good for the soul.

Hope you’ve enjoyed your Sunday. Till next time…

Wordy girl Wednesday

Good morning world. It’s Wednesday here in the Northwest part of the US.  I am headed out to work,  it’s been over a month now in this new position and I am enjoying the challenges and new schedule.  I have found when you love the schedule that you create you can enjoy your life on a whole new level.  A balanced life allows me to serve my family, partner, children and all those around me so much better.

Summer is so great having all the kids home.  The first summer of 4 kids in the house (at times; with the one home from college bouncing around).  Having multiple days off now allows for so much more rest and family fun.

Life can be exciting ride; if you focus on the joy and love rather than the struggles. My thoughts today as I tackle my last work day for the week are all about how to enjoy all the chaos life can bring.  I am someone who prefers quiet to noise; with 4 kids that can be a challenge.  I prefer neat and order; again that can be a hard to come by with numerous feet about; you should see the shoe pile!  I like my alone time; you can imagine how much of that I am getting with summer vacation in full swing.  But what I am choosing to focus on instead of the things I might “prefer” are the things I love.

I love having a partner who understands me and my idiosyncrasies.  Who is home every night, there every morning; who shares all the joys and hardships with me.  Having the right partner in life makes a world of difference in how you tackle family life. Being part of a fabulous team is one of my greatest joys these days.  I am reminded of a bible phrase I learned as a kid;
“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!”  Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

I love hearing the kids laugh and play and work together.  The noise can get to me as I must have some of the most sensitive ears around which can be a source of frustration.  But when I focus on how they all get along (sometimes a challenge with blended families) how they all work together and how much we laugh, the noise doesn’t seem as overwhelming.

I love having fun as a couple and a family.  There is a shift inside when you sit back and examine the good.  I have been known to say; quite often “like a magnifying glass, what you choose to focus on will become larger and more magnified.  The more I hold that looking glass over the joys of this life, the more they show up.

This wordy girl loves her life everyday.  No matter the struggles, tears, or frustrations.  The love, laughter and joys are in more abundance than ever before.  Life is good.

I know that I talk about joy often these days.  This blog began as an outlet for a very sad and difficult season of my life. As a way to help others that may also be recovering from an abusive relationship.  To help those who struggle with finding the good amidst the hard and to help us all feel less alone.  As my life has shifted to a new season, my focus has also changed.  I want to share more of the joys of life. To focus on encouragement and hope. To continue to offer ways of finding contentment and peace throughout this busy life of family, career and relationships.

I hope to bring you more updates.  To write more often.  To encourage you in this journey of life.  NEVER GIVE UP!  The road always bends and twists and can take you some amazing places if you stay the course.  Keep working towards the best you.  When you lift your head each day, choose to focus on just one thing that can bring you joy today.

I hope that you find something beautiful to focus on today.
Till next time.

Sunday self care (7)

This. So much this!

Sometimes the process is so hard, draining, not enjoyable that this idea seems impossible. But the more I say it aloud, the more it resonates. There is power when you own the hard. When you believe the process will change you. When those tough moments soften a sharp edge or teach you a new way to view yourself and this life.

Everyday I want to fall more in love with who I’m becoming, owning that this is a process, a work in progress daily is a part of that. Everyday we get to wake up and choose our thoughts. Everyday is a new opportunity for growth.

How do you see the journey? Your own journey to being the best you? Repeat this phrase above. Fall in Love with your own path. With the you you were, are and who you’re becoming… It’s such a beautiful life.
